Katie Holmes was born in December 1978 in Toledo, one of the most populous cities in the state of Ohio. She spent her childhood in her hometown with her lawyer father, housewife mother, and four siblings. During her high school years, she began her professional modeling career, and at the age of 16, the owner of the modeling agency she worked for took her to New York, taking her career one step further. Although her father wanted his daughter to become a doctor, she chose to pursue a different career path.
In 1997, she made her acting debut in the film “The Ice Storm,” directed by Taiwanese-born director Ang Lee. In the early 2000s, she gained international fame by appearing on the covers of many famous magazines, including Seventeen. In 2002, she starred alongside Colin Farrell in the film “Phone Booth,” which grossed nearly 100 million dollars worldwide. In 2005, Katie Holmes did voice acting for the video game “Batman Begins.” She was also married to Golden Globe-winning actor Tom Cruise for six years.
