Mustafa Kemal was not just a leader but also a thinker who shaped history. His worldview, physical features, habits, and lifestyle have inspired many people.

Mustafa Kemal Atatürk was born in 1881 in Thessaloniki. His father was Ali Rıza Efendi, and his mother was Zübeyde Hanım. He began his education at the local primary school and later continued at the Thessaloniki Military High School. Mustafa Kemal completed his higher education at the Military Academy and the War School, starting his military career at a young age.

Atatürk’s height was 1.74 meters (174 cm), and his weight was approximately 75 kg. His balanced height and weight gave him a charismatic appearance. Atatürk wore size 42 shoes, typically in black patent leather. This attention to detail shows that Mustafa Kemal was always meticulous and careful. Atatürk’s physical features were not just limited to his height and weight. His hair was dark brown, always neat and well-kept. His eyes were blue, symbolizing his powerful and deep gaze.

Mustafa Kemal had some notable daily habits. He was known to drink 10-15 cups of Turkish coffee every day. One of his favorite dishes was beans without meat and rice. He preferred a simple and healthy diet. His clothing was typically white, and he designed his own suits. However, Mustafa Kemal did not like the color navy blue, and there were no clothes of this color in his wardrobe.

Mustafa Kemal loved reading books, and books were his closest companions. One of Atatürk’s favorite books was *Çalıkuşu* by Reşat Nuri Güntekin. The book was always with him, and he sometimes opened it randomly to read a page. He was also the author of several books, including *Medeni Bilgiler* (Civil Knowledge) and *Bölüğün Muharebe Eğitimi* (Battalion Combat Training), which were military and societal in nature.

One of Mustafa Kemal’s closest companions was his dog named Foks. He purchased this dog from a photographer in Yalova and kept it with him until the end of his life. After Foks passed away, the dog was mummified and is now displayed at the Atatürk and Independence War Museum. He was also fond of sports; he regularly rode horses, swam, and played billiards.

Mustafa Kemal Atatürk passed away on November 10, 1938, at the Dolmabahçe Palace. However, his legacy continues to live on not only in Turkey but also worldwide. His last words were “Aleykümselam” (Peace be upon you), and after a 30-hour coma, he passed away. He was the leader of the Turkish nation and the founder of modern Turkey.

Mustafa Kemal’s life left a great legacy not only through his military achievements but also through his ideas, revolutionary reforms that transformed societies, and personal traits. His life has always been a guide for the Turkish nation.

Final Words

We remember Atatürk with love, respect, and gratitude.
